Online privacy statement

NERC is working with Dialogue by Design, an independent consultation company, to conduct this online survey. Any personal information you provide will be processed by the NERC and Dialogue by Design, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, to assist in the preparation of the Public Dialogue.

Where you are asked for personal information via the online form, this information will only be used for the purpose of conducting the survey on Geoengeering. At all times, your information will be held in a secure manner. The information will be passed back to the NERC once the survey has been completed.

If you are concerned about providing your personal information online please contact us on 020 8683 6602 and we will arrange alternative means for you to provide this information.

We collect IP addresses only for the purposes of system administration and to audit the use of our site. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, which means that while your user session will be logged, you will remain anonymous to us. As a necessary part of our website function we need to use cookies, these cookies are not malicious. If you reject our cookies it will not be possible to take part in any of our web-based processes. This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control.

Ground rules for participating

Submissions to this online survey will be made available on a public website during a review session. For responses made by individuals, the respondent’s name will not be displayed on the website. Responses made on behalf of an organisation will have the organisation name displayed on the website. If a response contains a reference to the participant’s details, or details of their colleagues or their organisation, we will assume that the participant is happy for the response to be displayed on this website including any such details.

Full responses including contact details will be available for inspection by the public on request under Freedom of information legislation. We are unable to treat submissions as confidential.

Users are prohibited from impersonating another person and from posting material that is obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, or embarrassing to any person or entity, or any sexually explicit image, any advertisement or solicitation of business, chain letters or pyramid schemes.

You may only register once for this survey; during the consultation period, you can update and amend your comments at any time by logging onto the website. If you register more than once, we may disregard responses not linked to the original first registration.
